Most people don't give their soap choice a second thought. You just throw it in the buggy and keep on going. Well, I am here to tell you why you should use goat milk soap in your daily shower routine and never turn back. What do you think is the most common skin condition in the United States today? You guessed it... those pesky bumps we call acne. Atopic dermatitis (eczema), psoriasis, rosacea, and skin cancer are close to follow. I don't think we can safely say here that one thing causes these skin conditions. There are multiple reasons why our skin reacts in different ways. But one thing we do know is what is GOOD for the skin.

Let's start with our vitamins. What vitamins are good for your skin? Vitamin A, B-complex vitamins, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Vitamin E. We will focus on two vitamins that stand out more than the rest, Vitmain A and Vitamin E. Vitamin A is great for getting that nice toned skin and it helps exfoliate the dead skin cells which keeps the face from having clogged pores. It also has antioxidant and wound healing properties. Also, Vitamin A helps slow the skins aging process. When you buy your creams and those fancy serums for your skin, most of those products have what are called retinoids in them. All that means is Vitamin A, but in manufactured form. Wouldn't you love to have Vitamin A at a natural state? Goat milk is known to be high in Vitamin A.

Vitamin E is just as important. In a study, it was proven that Vitamin E aids in wound healing, improves chloasma and pigmented contact dermatitis lesions, slows the growth of melanoma, serves as an antioxidant barrier on the skin, and diminishes wrinkles and skin tumors. Goat milk has a significant amount of vitamin E. Almost all the soaps you buy in the store use water instead of milk so you aren't getting Vitamin A or Vitamin E naturally or you aren't getting those vitamins at all.

Goat milk also has a fair amount of lactic acid in it. You are probably wondering what lactic acid is and how it could possibly be good for the skin. Lactic Acid or also known as Lactate is a chemical produced in your body. It is when your cells produce energy without oxygen. Lactic Acid is in the class of molecules called Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHA). AHAs are known to help rejuvenate dry skin and has skin cell renewal and anti-aging benefits. In a study it was proven that lactic acid improved skin roughness.

Butterfat, fat in goats milk, has more lactic acid in it than cow's milk. Goats can have up to 10% of butterfat depending on the breed. The breed that has the most butterfat content is the Nigerian Dwarf goat. They typically have between 6%-10% butterfat compared to other breeds that have 2%-6% butterfat. I bet you can guess what breed of goat we have here at Georgia On My Pine Farm...Yup, we have the Nigerian Dwarf goats. Not only do they serve up the most butterfat in their milk but they are the cutest of all goat breeds (in my opinion). They only grow as tall as your knee caps. AWW how cute!... as my 3 year old would say.

Now that you have learned of all the proven benefits of using goat milk on the skin, I would like to give our family's testimony on the use of goat milk soap. My whole family has sensitive skin, which ranges from eczema to chapped hands. Just in this past few months we have been using our goat milk soap, we no longer have eczema. It is completely gone. we no longer have that dry itchy skin or chapped hands. Now non of us really had acne problems, at least as an adult, but we have noticed our skin is a LOT smoother. We don't even need to use any moisturizer. Maybe the whole idea of goat milk soap is to get it back to its natural PH where we don't need to add all the extra stuff to balance it out. Here at Georgia On My Pine Farm, goat milk soap has improved our skin health and we hope you join us by switching to goat milk soap. Not only would you improve your skin but you can help out a small business in these hard times.
